To be completely honest, we haven’t really utilised our knowledge and know how to bring you exciting news and information in the blog. We made a good start, then with all things, it’s got so hectic around here, we need to put you, our valued customers first before turning our hands to blogging.

We’ve made some changes here at Asonda HQ and we are going to be further committed to driving down costs and improving on our already brilliant services that we currently offer.

We want to get in touch with all our customers and provide a face for the business, there’s nothing I.T related we won’t try and help with so please feel free to shoot us an e-mail whenever you like and we’ll always do our best to respond.

Oh wait, so how does one go about getting on the net, without a browser to go and download your preferred..browser?

Dear oh Dear. Well done Microsoft. Thanks to your abusive behaviour (NB Netscape) there are going to be plenty of people who buy perhaps their first PC and have no clue how to actually do the whole, internet ‘thing’.

Then again, why should they not ship it with their own browser, IE after all is a Microsoft product and by rights shouldn’t it really come bundled with ’7′, is this the EU just being shirty with them?

Surely a really nice idea for Microsoft in this case, would be for them to add some buttons on the desktop.

Button 1) Internet Explorer Install

Button 2) Firefox Install

Button 3) Flock Install

Button 4) Safari Install

Button 5) Google Chrome Install

Then when the user is ready to get going with the net, they choose one of the installer packages, this would take some courage on Microsoft’s part but surely it shows they value their customer? Maybe even include this stage in the Windows 7 installation process?

Just think, how do you configure your router to even get on the net? The standard home user would use…yes, the browser. So those buttons above, need have installer packages included, inside of the OS, no? Otherwise how can somebody even download them!

If they ship it blank, with no access to some from of browser, I’m worried. It’s going to involve lots of people, lots of USB sticks and other computers, lots of friends and possibly lots of support calls, just to get PCs internet capable!

When we sell a new PC, we usually install FireFox for our customers anyway, this will still be the case as we will never leave our customers in the dark.

I suppose it’s Microsoft’s fault in the first place for annoying the EU, so now it’s time for them to show how they can provide good customer service.

They could do all of the above to value everybody and maybe even earn themselves a modicum of respect. . . however I bet:

They’ll just bundle a CD with IE on it, for us EU peeps. Typical.

Chin-Up, it could be worse, oh wait..could it.

It was unveiled at the WWDC and was one of Apples more exciting releases.

Amongst the new tech specs, such as Auto Focus Camera, Faster HSDPA speed there a few things some of you may not know about the new 3GS.

1.)  Resistant to Oil and Water.

Apparently the new 3GS is resistant to Water and Oil. Note Resistant, not Proof so don’t go throwing your new phone in the sink.

2.) Same Size and Shape.

No brainer really as they didn’t want to alienate their existing customers, but the new one is actually 2 grams heavier. Maybe due to it’s new ‘Auto Focus’ Camera or Battery?

3.) Auto Macro Mode.

Well, no more switching to Macro mode (Not that we have that currently with the iPhone 3G anyway, but the new beast will switch to Macro Mode automatically when you get 10CM or closer to your subject. Fantastic for those up nose bogey shots of your friends.

4.) O2 are on the ball with MSS

O2 are going to start supporting MMS and Tethering from Day one, apparently the 19th June. Tethering will require a Bolt On, where as MMS is supported out of the box and one MMS will subtract 4 standard texts from your allowance, existing iPhone users will see this when we get updated to OS 3.0 sometime soon. Woooooooop.

5.) Remember me pleaseeeeeee

Well now it does, the iPhone 3GS also hopefully a feature of the OS3.0 coming to existing users. Is that the iPhone will behave more like a web browser in that it’s going to be able to remember thing’s you have put in before into forms etc, like e-mail address’s. Fantastic!

6.) Speaky Speaky

“What Song is This?” “Play more of The Who”…This is weird, the new phone can understand full sentences not just single words. So when are we all due to be plugged into the Matrix? oh wait, we already are? no…? oh alright.

7.) Compass

The 3GS has a built in Digital Compass. not only does it fit right in with Google Maps, it is also there for you to use on its own. You can select True North or Magnetic North. Put this with your Spirit Level and surely nobody need to bother Bear Grylls again?

There we have it, a funky features you might not have known about…but probably did.

We’ve let this part of our business down, Blogging.

We never really knew what to write, we didn’t even know we’d have so many people want to read more about US rather than just reviews and tips and tricks.

So, we’re going to get personal, starting with me, Jamie.

From this point onwards I’m going to blog about anything and everything, as well as, the technology tips, tricks and tweaks. That way, we are keeping everybody happy.

One aspect of security many people are failing to think about is the security aspect of their Wi-Fi routers. Without a security key enabled on your router anybody with a Wi-Fi enabled device is able to connect to your internet and computer network without you even knowing it.

Some people think they can just access the internet via your router but the horrid truth is that they can actually do alot more.

They could store a keylogger on your machine, which would allow them to save all sorts of information such as passwords, credit and debit card info that they have typed into websites when buying items online and all sorts of other private information.

Not only this, the fact that they can use your internet means anything they do using your connection would be traced back to you. Many hackers use other peoples connections in order to perform illegal operations so that they can’t be traced.

This can all be stopped by using a very simple form of security. In fact the security itself isn’t simple at all but setting it up is pretty easy if you follow the instructions provided by your router manufacturer.

If you don’t want to do this yourself, or don’t know if your Wi-Fi router is secure then this is one of the services that we offer at a very reasonable one off price.

After all, how much would you pay to protect yourself and your family.

It shows the pitfalls of the new, sleek, shiny and outrageously slim MacBook Air when compared with a Lenovo X300.

This goes to show that the humble PC based system, wins again when it comes to close calls wih MAC.

Whilst messing about with Vista we came across something we’d like to share.

This little marvel is called the ‘Snipping Tool’.

Found under Start > All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool

This little app will allow you to selectively copy anything on your screen infront of you and save it as a picutre file. This is perfect for those of you who love to use the ‘prt sc’ button as this completely eliminates the need to paste the copied image into another program etc

This means we get asked lots of questions about such programs and Norton is a bit of a pain when it comes to uninstalling, the following example question we have been asked quite a few times now:

“I tried to uninstall Norton, but the Add/Remove Programs in the control panel doesn’t work like normal, what can I do?”

The answer is pretty simple, the only true way to get rid of Norton is to download and run the Norton Removal Tool, supplied free online by Symantec themselves.

Make sure you know what version of Norton you have on your PC, and download the version of the tool which applies to you. It is a small download, but may take a little while to actually complete the removal task as there is quite a bit to remove.

To kick start the blog we’re going to include all sorts of things that take our fancy here at Asonda.

Something that caught all our eyes recently was this computer built in a fish tank and submerged in Mineral Oil. Are you thinking, Surely the computer would not function? Surely electricity and liquid don’t go together? Well actually you would be suprised to find out that the PC not only works, it works very well with the Oil providing amazing cooling benefits.
